Peter Leaver - Nurton Developments

Nurton Developments has announced the expansion of its strategic land operations with the appointment of Peter Leaver, the former JLL head of Midlands’ Planning & Development, to the Birmingham-based developer’s team.

Peter brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record in planning, having managed several high-profile clients and schemes during his impressive 25-year tenure at Birmingham’s top property agency, JLL and previously at King Sturge, including Nurton’s Branston Locks project.

Peter was instrumental in steering Branston Locks to become one of the UK’s first significant urban extensions to gain consent. This ground-breaking, sustainable community combines 2,500 homes with one million sq ft of commercial space, alongside extensive green infrastructure, open spaces for sports and recreation facilities and development of a secondary free school and primary school.

With a current portfolio promoting 10 million sq ft of strategic land across the region, Nurton

is set to introduce its latest project, Cross-in-Hand, Rugby. Strategically located to the west of Magna Park, this ambitious 3.2 million sq ft strategic employment site benefits from its position at the heart of the “Golden Triangle,” a premier sweet spot for industrial and logistics development.

Peter’s appointment is anticipated to be crucial in realising the potential of this scheme and growth of future strategic operations, focusing on identifying and steering new opportunities through the intricacies of the planning process.

Rupert Young, development director at Nurton Developments, expressed confidence in Peter’s capabilities:

“Peter has worked as a consultant to Nurton for over 15 years across several schemes. We trust his planning policy acumen and forensic approach to the detail. His extensive experience will help us unlock strategic sites, secure future planning permissions and propel schemes forward.”

Peter Leaver conveying his enthusiasm about his new venture said: “Joining Nurton Developments is an exciting next step for me. They are a well-known and long-standing business in the Birmingham property landscape.

“With a substantial pipeline offering immense potential, I am relishing the opportunity to work with the team to realize our collective goal of creating dynamic and sustainable commercial spaces that help ensure the economic growth of the region.”
