In a newly created role, national property consultancy Carter Jonas has recruited Alex Tross as a partner to lead its Birmingham office agency team.

Tross has an established track record and joins Carter Jonas with a roster of his existing clients, including Fidelity International, Paloma Capital, Floreat and Blue Noble. His appointment builds on the momentum from Carter Jonas’s acquisition last year of the leading Midlands industrial and logistics agency, McGuinness Waddington Real Estate Ltd (MWRE).

Tross was previously at Centrick, where he was a Commercial Director, and has more than 17 years of extensive commercial real estate experience focused on the Midland’s market. Before this, he headed up the Office Advisory team at Lambert Smith Hampton Birmingham, which he joined after seven years at Colliers.

Having advised on some of the region’s most prominent office deals, Tross will leverage this knowledge in his new role and draw on skills from across Carter Jonas’ existing team at Two Snowhill to support landlords, occupiers, investors and developers on their office leasing and acquisition strategies, establishing a full-service agency offer. Additionally, he will channel his expertise, energy and passion for the Midlands market to identify and develop opportunities for collaboration with colleagues to amplify the Carter Jonas brand regionally.

Tross is a well-known industry figure and was recently voted Birmingham’s Man of the Year by fellow business leaders at the City of Birmingham Business Awards 2022. Alongside client commitments, he is Deputy Chair of the award-winning Colmore BID, which manages improvements and services to the business quarter of Birmingham to enhance the experience of those living, working in, and visiting the area.

Scott Harkness, Head of Commercial, Carter Jonas said: “The nuances of the Birmingham market together with our partnership-led approach create a unique opportunity for our team to stand out from the more traditional players in the region, to deliver a bespoke service for occupiers and landlords. Having established a commercial presence in Birmingham, we have created a solid platform from which we can continue to invest and grow by recruiting the best people, and we are excited to welcome Alex to Carter Jonas as part of this strategy. Alex’s knowledge of the market and understanding of the shifting needs of clients will be invaluable as we continue to enhance our agency offer both regionally and nationally.”

Alex Tross, Partner, Commercial, Carter Jonas, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to join Carter Jonas at a really exciting time for the partnership. There are ambitious plans to grow strategically in the Midlands, as evidenced by the MWRE purchase last year and the rapid growth of its Birmingham office since first launching here in 2016. In our industry, Carter Jonas is renowned for forging lasting and trusted relationships with its clients, and I look forward to working with Scott and the wider team to establish a strong agency practice in the region founded on these values.”
