Planning granted on a Winchester Gateway Site

Goadsby’s Land and Commercial Departments are pleased to report that the planning application by Bargate Homes on the former Southgate Peugeot site in St Cross Road, Winchester has been granted consent for redevelopment to residential.

Allan Pickering of Goadsby Commercial in Winchester comments “The site was previously occupied by Southgate Peugeot for use as well established car showroom. Since they vacated the property, Goadsby have marketed the site on behalf of the landowner alongside joint agent Charters Commercial and received a number of offers for the site, with the majority being for residential redevelopment”.

Ryan Harris, Land Manager at Goadsby comments “The quick demise of the former tenants was well-publicised so there was a great deal of local interest. It is seen as the gateway in to Winchester and we are pleased to see a great deal of thought has gone in to the design by local architect Huw Thomas, which will undoubtedly enhance the street scene once complete. The Bargate Homes teamhave demonstrated their capability in dealing with such a sensitive application”.

Ryan adds “Disposing on the former Hyde Abbey Laundry, 17-19 St Peter Street and Trafalgar House has meant a very productive 2012 in the City and St Cross Road adds to this list. Not only have we been able to introduce clients with an appetite for development land, but also we are seeking commercial and investment opportunities through our commercial team”.
