New planning application for final phase at Dolbeare Meadow Business Park, Ashburton

Commercial property agents Monk & Partners have announced local developer, Hazelmoor Partnership, has now submitted a Planning application for Phase 2 of Dolbeare Meadow Business Park, the final Phase to complete this exciting development at Ashburton, Devon.

Phase 2 consists of five new business units which will be available For Sale or To Let together with an electric vehicle charge park and cafe building with drive-thru facilities. This is in addition to the approved Phase 1 which includes four new business units and convenience store (scheduled to start construction in the next few months) alongside the existing 9000 sq. ft office building known as Conway House constructed for and occupied by Devon & Cornwall Police in 2008.

Located within the town and at the gateway to Ashburton and Dartmoor, Dolbeare Meadow Business Park is a high quality development where the new units designed by award winning architects Van Ellen Sheryn will include grasscrete parking, solar panels, air source heat pumps, retained and new landscaping, significant biodiversity enhancement and an Electric Vehicle charging station. It is considered Dolbeare Meadow Business Park breaks the mould and provides users and visitors to the area with a high quality and distinctive design.

The application Retail Impact Assessment estimates that Phase 2 will provide at least 36 new full-time jobs generating a substantial income to the locality. The development itself will comprise over £5m of investment providing jobs in the construction period over the course of 18-24 months. The scheme will also add to the future business rates revenue to the Local Authority.

Phase II will create another quality business environment following on from the highly successful Linhay Business Park created by the same developer. Linhay accommodates companies such as Age UK, Devon & Cornwall Police, Cambium Networks among others and has created many jobs, substantially benefitting the local economy of Ashburton and its environs.

John Slade of Monk & Partners comments, “We have worked with this developer for many years on both sites and are proud of the environment that has been created with top quality occupiers in place. We are very excited about the final phase of Dolbeare Meadow Business Park which has been designed to provide a product that will be unique and extremely appealing to the area.”

The completion of Dolbeare Meadow Business Park will create a high quality and environmentally conscious business hub in a location adjacent to the A38 and mid-way between the three main population centres of Devon, namely Exeter, Plymouth and Torbay. The EV Charge Park provides much needed EV charging facilities on the A38 and creates a springboard for EV drivers to visit Ashburton, Dartmoor and beyond.

Phase 1 is due to start on site this summer following agreement with the Coop earlier this year for a new 4000 sq. ft convenience store. The successful completion of Dolbeare Meadow Business Park would give Ashburton and its residents an entrance that it can be proud of while providing significant economic benefits to the town and wider local area.
