Central Birmingham office market take up figures for Quarter 1, 2022

The latest report was compiled for Birmingham Office Market Forum by Jonathan Carmalt, Director, Office Agency, JLL.

Office take up in quarter one, 2022 in the central Birmingham office market totalled 175,261 sq ft in 32 deals, according to figures compiled by Birmingham Office Market Forum.

In a quarter where office market activity was yet again hindered by the work from home ruling at the turn of the year, it is most encouraging that the Q1 take up outcome continued at a similar level to that recorded in the final quarter of 2021 and is a considerable improvement on this time last year.

The 32 deals represents the highest number of transactions recorded in a first quarter since 2016 and reflects confident decision making by an increasing number of occupiers.

Preceding Q1 figures comprise:
2021; 49,837 sq ft; 20 deals
2020; 338,985 sq ft; 16 deals
2019; 193,984 sq ft; 25 deals
2018; 148,483 sq ft; 22 deals

Birmingham Office Market Forum was established in 2007 to present a co-ordinated voice to investors, developers and occupiers about Birmingham’s city centre office market. The Forum brings together the city’s leading office agents and Business Birmingham.
