Staff at SERS Energy Solutions Group – one of the UK’s leading experts in energy-saving technology and construction – are celebrating after scooping the top award for Welsh businesses.
SERS, which is headquartered in Caerphilly, with offices in Cannock and Lockerbie, has won the Welsh Business of the Year Award in the South Wales Chamber of Commerce Welsh Business Awards. SERS beat off competition from throughout the principality to scoop this prestigious accolade.
In addition, SERS won the Most Promising Growth Business award which recognises the company’s’ achievement in tripling in size in just two years.
Judges said the achievement of winning two awards was extraordinary considering the high calibre of entries in the contest.
“The judges deliberated long and hard to reach their decisions, but SERS’ achievement is fantastic. They can be very proud.”
The award was collected by SERS business development manager Andrew Dunn and marketing manager Amy Skerratt.
Andrew Dunn said they were delighted to get the Most Promising Growth Business award, but to get the top Welsh Business of the Year award was the icing on the cake.
“We have a great relationship with the community around our headquarters and training centre in Wales and we believe that our success helps that community through employment, training opportunities and our work with Business in the Community,” he said.
News of the double win comes on top of SERS being listed in the Sunday Times Virgin 100 table, as well as picking up the Retrofit Installer of the Year award for the high standard of its insulation work.
SERS has increased its sales by more than 50 per cent a year over the last two years and has tripled in size, achieving a sales turnover of £27.5 million and employing more than 150 people.
SERS has a bulging trophy cabinet after winning a number of awards over the last year. These include the National Insulation Association awards for Outstanding Customer Service and Best Social Housing/Regeneration Project, and the Energy Efficiency Insulation Installer of the Year award at the recent Energy Efficiency and Renewable Awards 2013. SERS has also been shortlisted in the South West Green Energy Awards and the Business in the Community Wales Responsible Small Company of the Year 2013 awards.
