Jones Lang LaSalle raises over £200,000 for Samaritans in seven months

Since January, Jones Lang LaSalle has helped raise over £200,000 for Samaritans – five months ahead of their target. A series of high profile sporting events open to the wider property industry, has helped generate funds and awareness of the charity’s work.

Events have included the annual Property Triathlon in May, which saw a record 2,400 competitors, a 5k run in Regent’s Park and a ‘Cycle Sportive’ in the Chilterns. These events were supported with a series of treks, team cycling challenges, bake sales, furniture sales and Mark Douglas, from the Southampton office taking part in the Tough Mudder.

Guy Grainger, UK Chief Executive of Jones Lang LaSalle, commented: “I’m delighted with the success to date of our charity partnership with Samaritans. Working together we have achieved a great deal in seven months, and there is much more to come during the remainder of 2013 and throughout 2014. Samaritans is a fantastic charity and in today’s world, with tougher work and economic pressures and more people needing emotional support, it is up to companies like us to support the fantastic work of our charity partner and ensure we leave a legacy for their future growth. It’s great to see the property industry embrace our events in the numbers and with the enthusiasm they have. I look forward to more fundraising action over the coming months.”

Samaritans Chief Executive, Catherine Johnstone added: “I would like to thank and congratulate the staff at Jones Lang LaSalle for raising a fantastic sum of money for Samaritans. These kind donations will help our volunteers answer the 5,606,579 million calls for help we receive every year, from people struggling to cope.”
