BB&J Commercial have announced the successful sale of 73 Monk Street, Derby. The prominent former car showroom and workshop premises have been purchased by Wilson Architects UK, an established and expanding architectural practice with a strong presence across the East Midlands.
The sale was subject to acceptance of a recently approved planning application for the demolition of the existing building and the construction of a three‑ to six‑storey purpose‑built student accommodation scheme, providing 102 bedrooms across 16 cluster flats.
The approved development features a stepped design increasing in height towards the ring road, with clusters ranging from 3 to 10 bedrooms, all with en‑suite facilities and the majority including in‑room kitchenettes.
With the University of Derby continuing to attract strong student numbers, the approved scheme will help support the city’s growing demand for high‑quality, well‑located student accommodation.
