BNP Paribas Real Estate, part of BNP Paribas Group, has appointed Liz Cain as Head of its Birmingham office, marking a significant investment in the firm’s leadership and growth strategy across the Midlands and wider UK market.

Liz steps into the role with more than two decades of experience across real estate, financial services, and professional services environments. She is widely recognised as a trusted adviser to boards and executive teams, combining sound judgement with practical execution to strengthen governance, lead large multidisciplinary teams and enable sustainable, well-governed growth.

Liz has been with BNP Paribas Real Estate for 11 years, most recently serving as Senior Director, Internal Control and Head of Client Finance. In that role, based in Birmingham, she has led a team of approximately 100 qualified and trainee accountants and property finance professionals, overseeing a comprehensive financial reporting and treasury management service tailored to client needs.

Under her leadership, the client finance function has controlled in excess of £6 billion of rent and service charge income and delivered market-leading debt collection performance – all within a strict control environment supported by a robust governance structure.

In addition to leading client finance, Liz has worked closely with advisory, occupier and property management services teams across the UK and Europe, helping to align operational delivery with strategic objectives and risk standards. Her appointment reflects the firm’s ambition to further strengthen Birmingham as a cohesive, high-performing office within its UK and European network.

As Head of the Birmingham office, Liz will assume responsibility for people leadership, strategy, revenue generation and operational performance, working closely with regional and national leadership to drive growth across the Midlands market, ensuring clients benefit from the full breadth of BNP Paribas Real Estate.

Mark England, UK CEO of BNP Paribas Real Estate commented: “Liz is an exceptional leader with a proven track record of driving performance within complex, regulated environments. Her ability to combine strategic judgement with operational rigour makes her ideally placed to lead our Birmingham office through its next phase of growth.

“The Midlands remains a key strategic market for us. Liz’s appointment underlines our commitment to investing in leadership that will strengthen client relationships, enhance collaboration, and unlock new opportunities across the region.”

Liz Cain, Head of Birmingham Office at BNP Paribas Real Estate added: “I am taking on the role of Head of Birmingham at such an important time for both the city and our business. Birmingham continues to demonstrate resilience and opportunity across multiple sectors, and our clients are looking for advisers who combine deep market insight with strong governance and disciplined execution.

“My focus will be on empowering our talented teams, strengthening collaboration across service lines and ensuring we continue to deliver sustainable, well-governed growth for our clients and long-term opportunity for our people.”

Birmingham remains one of the UK’s most dynamic regional centres, benefiting from sustained investment, infrastructure development and a diverse occupier and investor base. Liz will work closely with national sector and service line heads to further enhance the firm’s integrated offer in Birmingham, ensuring clients benefit from the full breadth of BNP Paribas Real Estate’s expertise across advisory, occupier and property management services.

Liz’s appointment follows Sam Vyas joining as Senior Director within its national Industrial & Logistics Agency team, Roger Young as National Head of Valuation, and Leighton Thomas’s promotion to Head of Professional Services, demonstrating BNP Paribas Real Estate’s continued drive to connect clients with opportunities and sustainable property solutions through expert advice, insight, and financial acumen, supporting them to create long term outperformance and value in a changing world.
