Webb Gray in step with Brantano

Architects Webb Gray has been appointed by a leading footwear retailer to help it take a major step forward with a new £1.2 million office and warehouse extension at its UK headquarters.

The Birmingham-based architectural practice was awarded the contract by Brantano to extend its HQ in Coalville, Leicestershire.

Webb Gray is working alongside developers Graftongate and London-based property management and investment business Clipstone to increase the size of Brantano’s existing distribution warehouse by 25%. The extension will also store stock from Jones the Bootmakers’ Eastbourne head office, following a merger by its parent company Macintosh Retail Group.

Work started on the project in July 2012 and is due to be completed by the end of the year.

David Delaney-Hall, director at Webb Gray, said: “Brantano has more than 145 stores to service and so it is vital that their distribution facilities are able to keep up with demand. We are very pleased to have been appointed by the company to work on this important project.”

David Short, managing director of Brantano, said: “The extension of our Coalville distribution centre will lead to greatly improved operational efficiency for the business and we are pleased to have Webb Gray on board with the project.

Established in the UK in 1998, Brantano Footwear now has 145 stores across the country with its head offices in Coalville, Leicestershire. As part of the Macintosh Retail Group, Brantano aims to provide good quality products at prices suitable for everyone’s pocket. As well as its own range, Brantano also stocks other well-known brands such as Clarks, Hush Puppies, Sketchers, Rocket Dog and Nike.
