Icon Industrial has announced the sale of a new 69,872 sq ft head office and logistics development at Icon Harlow in Essex.

SOP International, a specialist importer and distributor of Asian and Oriental foods, is set to move its headquarters to the bespoke facility this year.

Work on the highly specified building, which contains 59,909 sq ft of warehouse accommodation and two-storey Grade A offices of 9,963 sq ft, was recently handed over for the occupier to complete their fit-out.

Two additional units will complete later this year as part of phase one of the development. Unit B will be a 96,826 sq ft building with three storey offices and Unit C will deliver 68,100 sq ft of warehouse space with two storey offices. Each unit is highly specified with up to 50m yard depths and 15m minimum clear height.

Icon Harlow can deliver up to 300,000 sq ft of accommodation in its second phase, that is available for build to suit occupiers.

Tony Nash, Director of Stoford Developments, said: “We’re very pleased to announce SOP International as the second occupier for Icon Harlow and are looking forward to welcoming them to their building. This development provides potential occupiers with high-spec warehouse and logistics accommodation in a premium location. We are anticipating considerable demand for the completed Units B and C.”

David Chattwell, managing director of SOP International, said: “SOP International Ltd is a family business that imports and distributes Asian and Oriental Foods throughout the UK and Europe. The company has outgrown its current headquarters in Hertford and requires larger premise to cope with the increased level of growth and business. We greatly look forward to moving into Harlow and its new state of art offices and warehouse.”

Icon Harlow is a striking new warehouse/logistics development located within the established London-Stansted-Cambridge corridor, just 30 miles north of central London and nine miles from the M25.

The development is close to London Stansted Airport, M11 and M25 and the new DP World London Gateway Port. Several high-profile occupiers are already based nearby, including DHL, FedEx, Wincanton, GSK and Bunzl.

Icon Industrial is a joint strategic venture by leading commercial property developer Stoford Developments and global private investment firm TPG Real Estate.

TPG Real Estate and Stoford Developments are building Icon Industrial into a significant logistics platform by acquiring and developing similarly attractive UK sites, as well as refurbishing existing buildings in prime logistics locations.
