Cushman & Wakefield makes two UK leadership appointments

Candice Matthews, UK Chief Operating Officer, Cushman & Wakefield

Cushman & Wakefield has made two leadership appointments within its UK business, naming Candice Matthews as UK Chief Operating Officer and Richard Pickering as UK Chief Strategy Officer.

Matthews joined DTZ – which merged with Cushman & Wakefield in 2015 – as a graduate in 2006. She has been Head of Residential for five years, managing teams across the UK as well as internationally, and in 2016 became the firm’s youngest International Partner. As UK Chief Operating Officer, her role includes ensuring the platform and performance of the UK business is optimised for the benefit of clients and employees, and that new services, systems and innovations are implemented at pace. Matthews passes the day-to-day running of the firm’s residential team to International Partner Charles Whitworth. She will retain the role of Chair of UK Residential, supporting Whitworth in strategic initiatives to continue the fast-paced growth of the team, as well as servicing key clients.

Pickering has been at Cushman & Wakefield for 14 years, specialising in regeneration and development before running the UK Research & Insight team. He too joined the firm’s graduate scheme and, having also been made an International Partner in 2016, he formed and led Cushman & Wakefield’s Futures team which advises clients on the factors creating change and business model disruption in the real estate industry and leads Cushman & Wakefield’s organisational response. His appointment as UK Chief Strategy Officer is an evolution of this work with responsibilities including identifying opportunities for competitive advantage and responding to disruptive threats.

George Roberts, Head of UK & Ireland, Cushman & Wakefield, said: “It gives me great pleasure to promote Candice and Richard into key roles that will have a significant bearing on the future success of our UK business. Our industry is changing at pace and the focus of both roles is ensuring we are as effective as we can be in servicing our clients and supporting our colleagues through the exciting changes. Candice and Richard’s rapid career progression from our graduate scheme to our UK Executive Committee is testament to their talent, acumen and application. I look forward to working closely with them in their new roles.”
