Joint venture developers Trebor and Maple Grove Developments, have held a ground breaking ceremony with local dignitaries to mark the official start of construction on site at a new, speculative, industrial scheme in Deeside, North Wales.

Ken Skates, North Wales Minister for the Economy and Transport, Chris Wheeler (Property Surveyor) at Welsh Government, Glen Cooke (Trebor Developments’ Project Management Director) joined Eric Wright Construction on site. The scheme, which is grant aided via Welsh Government will comprise three, speculative, high-quality, industrial units measuring, 10,000 sq ft, 24, 000 sq ft and 50,000 sq ft. Units will be available to purchase freehold or lease.

Bob Tattrie, Managing Partner of Trebor, on behalf of the joint venture, commented: “We are all very pleased to see construction start, it has taken many months to bring this complex, brownfield site, forward, but with work now on site units will be available from early next year. We have strong interest already being shown in all unit sizes”.

Ken Skates said: “Supporting business growth by ensuring there are investment ready sites at key locations such as the Deeside Enterprise Zone is an important element of my Economic Action Plan, and I am delighted to mark the start of work on this scheme.

“The Welsh Government is committed to boosting the future prosperity of our enterprise zones and this investment is a clear example of that. The delivery of new sites and premises is also supported by the North Wales Economic Ambition Board and the North Wales Growth Bid as a regional priority.

“These industrial units will provide excellent space and an ideal solution for business needs.

“We will continue to explore opportunities which will support the growth of our economy and I look forward to seeing this development completed next year.”

Mark Diaper, associate director at Legat Owen, joint agents for the scheme with Cushman and Wakefield, continued: “There is a lack of good quality industrial space available in the North Wales area, which has meant many businesses looking to relocate have had to compromise on both location and build. Welsh Government’s proactive approach and ability to fund the development coupled with the joint venture’s determination to make the scheme happen has resulted getting this scheme off the ground.”
