Allied Surveyors Scotland appoints building surveyor in Edinburgh

Gavin Kerr, Building Surveyor, Allied Surveyors Scotland

Allied Surveyors Scotland have announced the immediate appointment of Gavin Kerr as a Building Surveyor in their Edinburgh office.

The former Scotland rugby internationalist, who amassed 50 caps for his country before retiring due to a neck injury in 2010, joins from SSE Energy Solutions.

Kerr, 42, has held roles in commercial property previously at Savills and CKD Galbraith but will now be based out of Allied Surveyors’ Walker Street office in the capital’s west end.

Commenting on his move to one of Scotland’s largest firms of chartered surveyors, he said: “I am thrilled to be back working in commercial property again and I am relishing the challenge of developing a building surveying presence for Allied on Scotland’s east coast.”

Gavin’s appointment comes nearly a decade after he gained vital experience with the firm whilst training to become a surveyor, shortly before retiring from professional sport.

“We helped guide Gavin in his early days of transition from sport to surveying. He returns to us with a wealth of knowledge, experience and contacts across the property industry,” commented Chris Highton, director and vice-chairman of Allied Surveyors Scotland.

In providing a full range of building surveying services, Gavin will be working closely with the firm’s east coast commercial agency department which was launched in April 2018 by Iain Mercer.

“Gavin’s appointment means we can now provide a vital extension to our range of professional services for our commercial property clients”, said Mr Mercer, director of commercial agency (east).

Building surveying services will include schedules of dilapidation, schedules of condition, refurbishment surveys and acquisition surveys.
