A queue of buyers in Gosport

One of the few hotels in Gosport, Hampshire has been sold by joint agents Colliers International and Savills.

The Old Lodge hotel in the attractive village of Alverstoke was closed with FRP Advisory called in as receivers. After a busy campaign with multiple offers, it has been sold by the property experts.

In the past the hotel was a busy venue with food and beverage being the key driver. The new owners will have the option to make the popular ten-bedroom property either a busy hotel or a more sedate B&B.

Colliers International hotel director Simon Wells said the venue’s prime location and recent extensions and refurbishments made it a great opportunity.

He said: “The Old Lodge is in one of Gosport’s more expensive areas and sits in a charming avenue close to the golf club and the Solent, including the well known Stokes Bay Sailing Club.

“The building itself has had a lot of money spent on it in recent years and with a little TLC and an injection of ideas, it has the potential to be a great draw within the town.

“The Old Lodge is one of the few places to stay in Gosport, so the buyers will have an immediate advantage. With an up-and-coming town like Gosport and with great links to Portsmouth, accommodation in the town is going to be sought after.”

Adam Bullas from Savills commented: “We had a queue of buyers for the hotel, so when one dropped away another stepped straight into their shoes.”

Gosport, just a short ferry ride away from Portsmouth, boasts marinas full of yachts and smart residential developments on the waterfront as well as MOD installations and Napoleonic fortifications to explore.

The property boasts a commercial kitchen, two entrances, a central reception area and a snug. There is also a bar complete with bay fronted windows and a restaurant with patio doors leading to the terrace.

The ten en-suite bedrooms can sleep up to 20 people and the comfortable and modern interior fits well with the Georgian exterior.
