The Parasol Group relocates west to Devon

The Parasol Group, a thriving family business specialising in modular building systems, is relocating to Crediton in Devon from Harlow, Essex after purchasing premises through property consultants Alder King.

The move west will create up to 10 direct new jobs over the next few years, and provide work for local specialist sub-contractors and suppliers.

The company, which has been designing, manufacturing and constructing energy-efficient and sustainable modular building systems for over 20 years, has purchased premises at Lord’s Meadow Industrial Estate.

The Group’s four divisions – Kennels, Game Rooms, Panels and Renewables  – supply clients as diverse as energy providers, animal charities and welfare groups, the military and the Government.

The new facility in Crediton, which is undergoing a major refurbishment by local contractors, will provide the platform from which to develop the business further.

The building exactly suited Parasol’s production requirements in terms of layout and size and was in a good location relatively close to the motorway system and the availability of compatible engineering companies on the estate.

The company also believed that In terms of investment and business running costs, mid Devon represents good value compared with the high costs incurred in London and the South East of England.   The area also provides exceptional surroundings for personal and home life for staff, with its reputation for excellent schools, medical services and leisure facilities.

Colin Taylor, managing director at the Parasol Group, said: “We are constantly looking to develop inventive, environmentally pioneering and affordable products.  We are confident that transferring the business to Crediton and investing in a new lifestyle in the South West will give us an excellent springboard to move the business forward.”

Lee Southan from Alder King said: “We are delighted to have secured the right premises to encourage a successful and expanding business to invest here in Devon.”

The Parasol Group purchased the 8,260 sq ft (767.34 sq m) premises for an undisclosed sum.  Alder King represented the vendor.
