Award-winning Nottingham architects appoints new MD

Richard Flisher, Managing Director for CPMG

A new managing director has been appointed at the Nottingham-based architectural practice which delivered the city’s flagship Biosciences building and is now working on a major office project at Nottingham Science Park.

CPMG Architects welcomes Richard Flisher as managing director, he has stepped up into the role from director and will lead the firm as it grows its presence in Nottingham, London and internationally.

Richard has 30 years’ experience as an architect and, with a particular interest in low sustainable and energy design, was responsible for delivering the UK’s first Carbon Negative, PassivHaus certified office building located in Leicester; more locally he also delivered the award-winning Rushcliffe Arena.

Richard will continue to act as an architect on key projects, as well as leading on the long-term growth strategy, ensuring the business continues to meet and exceed its targets.

He said: “CPMG is a great place to work; I’ve been with the business for more than 20 years during which time I have had the opportunity to be involved in some iconic projects across the UK, in Central Europe and in Abu Dhabi, China and Bangladesh, in addition to launching an office in London.

“I’m looking forward to working with my fellow board members and our talented architects, technologists, interior designers and graphics and visualisation teams to continually deliver outstanding designs to all clients.”

Having qualified at the University of Nottingham Richard will head up the 50-strong team of professionals based at the Nottingham HQ and London office.

“We continue to secure more work in the capital and expand our portfolio further in the commercial, residential, education and advanced manufacturing sectors and I’m confident that our planned growth in London will give us further opportunities to deliver projects abroad,” he added.

CPMG Architects has designed several high-profile developments including the HMS Belfast Visitor Centre located next to Tower Bridge, new headquarters for Dunelm, Slimming World and British Sugar and the 2018 RIBA award winning Vijay Patel building at De Montfort University.

His new position also sees changes to the roles and responsibilities of some directors with Nick Gregory heading up business development and Chris White continuing to lead on expanding the London office.
