Long Harbour, the UK real estate and asset backed investment manager, has further strengthened its growing team with the appointment of Gerald Templer as Investment Manager.

Gerald joins Long Harbour from global strategy consulting group Roland Berger, where he spent over five years in project management and investment roles at the firm’s London and Shanghai offices. He studied International Development at the University of Cambridge, Chinese and Japanese at the University of Oxford, and is fluent in Mandarin.

In his new position with Long Harbour, which has an expanding portfolio of investments and has deployed circa £2 billion of capital on behalf of its partners, he will play a key role in supporting the fund raising and project management of the company’s flagship developments. Gerald will act as Investment Manager for Long Harbour’s Real Estate Partners Fund.

Long Harbour is working in partnership with Fawley Waterside on one of the UK’s most significant regeneration projects to transform the site of the former power station into a world class residential and commercial waterside community embracing smart city technology and acting as a catalyst for innovation-based marine technology businesses.

Gerald will also play an important part in Long Harbour’s £70 million partnership with Homes England, the government’s housing delivery agency, to deliver two major residential and mixed-use development schemes with a combined value of £2.5 billion, which will unlock the delivery of 8,500 new homes in Kettering and Wellingborough, Northamptonshire.

Gerald Templer, Investment Manager for the Long Harbour Real Estate Partners Fund, said: “Long Harbour’s proven track record and its ambitious, entrepreneurial and creative approach makes this a hugely compelling opportunity. I’m thrilled to be joining such a talented team and am particularly excited by the prospect of being involved in some of the UK’s leading smart city developments.”

William Astor, Founder and CEO of Long Harbour, said: “The quality of our people is the bedrock of our success in establishing Long Harbour as trusted investment platform that pursues high quality, high growth assets. This appointment is another example of a recruitment policy which pinpoints talent, experience and entrepreneurial flair, and I’m sure Gerald will prove to be an invaluable part of our growing team.”
