A new commercial property hub for entrepreneurs and SMEs has been declared open by the Mayor of Merthyr Tydfil, Councillor Clive Tovey.

Business in Focus, the specialist business support organisation for South Wales, has recently acquired Crownford House, expanding its portfolio of properties across the region, allowing the social enterprise to offer further specialist support and premises uniquely tailored to the needs of small and medium-sized enterprises.

The site, located in the heart of the town centre, in Swan Street, has already witnessed a number of entrepreneurs moving in. These include Alpha Safety Training Ltd, Apollo Teaching Services and Incom CNS Wales Ltd.

Council officials, local support organisations and Merthyr College were at the opening, along with a number of Business in Focus success stories, including Pirates and Paperdolls, Erica’s ceramics and Moto Tec, who were on hand to talk to prospective tenants about how their fledgling businesses are thriving, with Business In Focus’ support.

Tenants in the new property will gain access to a range of offers and services that are afforded to all Business in Focus tenants. The many benefits include: flexible terms, a large communal space, no agent or administration fees and a building finished to an excellent standard with a lift to access all floors, and kitchen facilities on each level. All offices are fully serviced too, leaving the tenant free to focus on their business without having to worry about refuse collection, security or heating issues with the Business in Focus team on hand with advice and support, when needed.

Business in Focus Chief Executive, Katy Chamberlain, said: “We’re very excited to expand our portfolio of properties into new parts of South Wales, and we are pleased with the level of interest we have received already, from prospective tenants. We know Merthyr Tydfil is brimming with entrepreneurial talent and we look forward to supporting the continued development of the town.

“Our unique offering means that even the smallest business has access to premises and professional business guidance, with our experienced team there to help every step of the way. We know from experience that hosting businesses together, under one roof, encourages peer support, collaboration and success, and we look forward to seeing enterprises thriving in Crownford House.”

During the official opening on 11 October, a number of prospective tenants visited the site to see the new space, learning more about how Business in Focus has supported thousands of start-ups and SMEs for more than 30 years, with teams co-ordinating access to finance, employment and HR advice, business accommodation and a range of other services.
