Two convenience stores in Yeovil sold to experienced forecourt operator

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co has completed on the sale of two convenience stores in Yeovil, the Family Shopper Convenience Store on St Johns Road and Mace Convenience Store on Preston Road, on behalf of previous owner, Mr Roger Hardisty.

The Family Shopper is located on a small shopping parade in a busy housing estate and adopted the Booker Family Shopper concept just over two years ago. The Preston Road site was rebranded as a Mace store from the Palmer & Harvey fascia and benefits from high levels of passing trade and offers good customer parking.

The two convenience stores were previously owned by Yeovil Key Stores, a group of three convenience stores and a Post Office in Yeovil. Mr Hardisty has operated Key Stores for 18 years and has decided to reduce his workload as he prepares for retirement. He comments, “Having owned and operated the stores for a number of years, it was time for me to sell these two stores and hand them over to an operator who can move the stores forward with renewed energy and ideas. I would like to thank David Morris from Christie & Co for his guidance through the process.”

New owner and successful forecourt operator, Ritesh Rai was keen to expand his business interests in the region. Mr Rai plans to full refit both store, with refit of the St Johns Road site already underway. The store will continue to be supplied by Booker Wholesale.

David Morris, Associate Director at Christie & Co who handled the sale comments, “This is a great result for Roger, the staff and the local area. Ritesh plans to invest in both stores in order to give customers the very best product range and shopping experience.”

Mr Roger Hardisty was assisted in the transaction by Keith Griffiths of Broomhead Commercial acted on behalf of Mr Roger Hardisty on the legal due diligence for the transaction.
