Contract wins see St Ives business boost property requirements

Business growth and new contract wins have seen a St Ives-based company take a new lease on additional commercial premises in the Cambridgeshire market town’s Edison Road industrial area, confirms Barker Storey Matthews who was the sole agent under instruction to let the property.

Business Computer Services (UK) Ltd – a business-to-business IT sales, repair and service contractor – is the new occupier of a 341 sq m (3,673 sq ft) modern, light industrial unit at 5 Venture Court, Edison Road, St Ives – close to the company’s headquarters at 31 Edison Road in the town.

The end of terrace unit is one of just seven similar units in this small development, with allocated parking spaces. Unit 5 has workshop and office space as well as a reception area and kitchen and cloakroom facilities. The unit was recently vacated by previous occupier, PES Group who relocated to St Albans following company restructure.

Business Computer Services (UK) Ltd was establised in 1995 and grew rapidly from its original ‘garage-at-home’ start up business base in the Huntingdonshire village of Earith.

More recently, contract wins and a recruitment drive saw the company seek additional commercial accommodation from its Edison Road headquarters.

Lynne Edwards, Managing Director, explains, “With a headcount of 54 employees we had begun to outgrow our main office in St Ives.

“We realised we needed an ancillary business unit to accommodate our business expansion, particularly on winning two new substantial contracts, and we wanted a unit in the same part of the town as our existing premises.

“We’ve worked with Barker Storey Matthews before when we’ve had property requirements during the past 23 years, so we entered negotations to lease Unit 5 at Venture Court with confidence.”
