Expansion sees Waterbeach landing for fleet services company

Rapid company growth and the extension of its service offering to clients has seen Lynx Autocare – part of the group of companies which includes chauffer service, Airport Lynx and Myhill’s Mini Coaches – occupy a 343 sq m (3,688 sq ft) unit in Waterbeach, Cambridge, confirms agent Barker Storey Matthews who acted on behalf of the landlord in the instruction to let.

Unit 1, The Service Station on Ely Road, Waterbeach is a modern steel frame industrial unit with 299 sq m (3,108 sq ft) of warehouse space with offices, of equal size, 27 sq m (290 sq ft) on each of the two storeys.

The unit is now home to Lynx Autocare which was created, initially, to service the vehicles of the Airport Lynx fleet. The autocare company soon expanded from being an in-house facility to offer its garage and wider car care services to vehicles and fleets of other companies as well as to private individuals.

Lynx Autocare has taken a 10-year lease on Unit 1 with a view to moving other elements of the company group from offices and workshop premises in the nearby village of Cottenham.

In seeking new premises for Lynx Autocare, the aim was to secure the right base in the right location for access to Cambridge and the surrounding region and for a new unit that would accommodate and sustain further business expansion.

Steve Russell, Managing Director of the group of companies, confirms, “We have taken our time to find the right premises. It was important for us to have the right combination of offices, workshop and forecourt and to be close to Cambridge.

“We’ve found that at The Service Station and we’re up and running, servicing our own fleet through the business and providing our autocare services to a growing client base.”
