Museum snaps up Old Sarum unit

A prime unit on a popular business park has been snapped up by Salisbury Museum.

Property consultancy Myddelton & Major has successfully negotiated the sale of Unit 7, Hurricane Close, Old Sarum.

Quoting price for the 1,930 sq ft (179.30 sq m) unit was £125,000 freehold.

Myddelton & Major Partner Dean Speer said: “Salisbury Museum, situated in the city’s Cathedral Close, houses one of the best collections relating to Stonehenge and local archaeology, which are of national significance.

“Founded in 1860 by Richard Fowler and run as a limited liability company and a registered charity, the museum was for many years housed in St Ann’s Street and moved to its present home in 1981.

“We understand the Hurricane Close unit will be used by the museum’s various teams to store bulk archaeological finds that are kept for research purposes”.

The premises is an industrial/warehouse unit of steel portal frame construction with an up and over shutter door, fitted cloakroom and kitchen facilities and a mezzanine floor for additional storage.

Other occupiers at Old Sarum include construction, electrical, decorating, photography, exhibitions, fireworks and cleaning businesses.

Hurricane Close forms part of the Old Sarum Park development of modern business units, adjacent to the Old Sarum Airfield.

Old Sarum is about one-and-a-half miles north of Salisbury alongside the A345 Salisbury to Amesbury Road. The A303 lies approximately seven miles north at Amesbury.
