Major new steel manufacturing facility in Oldbury is ready to roll

Leading Midlands’ commercial developer, Trebor Developments LLP, has announced successful completion of its new steel manufacturing facility at Popes Lane, Oldbury, for Steel & Alloy Processing Limited.

The new, Phase One, 115,000 sq ft facility represents a £27m expansion of Steel & Alloy’s operations in the West Midlands region and will service clients across the UK’s automotive sector.

Mark Wright, Partner of Trebor Developments commented, “This has been a great project with an excellent collaborative approach from Steel & Alloy, our development team and our contractor, A&H Construction. We have achieved handover of a complex bespoke manufacturing facility on a challenging site within just 20 months from the outset of discussions”.

Mark Cooper, Manager Director of Steel & Alloy Processing Ltd. commented, “It is very exciting to bring new capacity to the market, introducing cutting-edge processing equipment to meet the needs of our customers today and well into the future. Making this investment so close to our existing plants in West Bromwich and Smethwick demonstrates our support for manufacturing in the West Midlands and continues our long association with Sandwell. We are amazed how we have been able to move from a 3D model on a screen to a fully operational processing site in such a short space of time and we are grateful to the teams from Trebor and A&H Construction for delivering such a high quality facility to such a tight deadline. We are already in the process of introducing work to the site and we will continue the build-up to full production in the coming weeks. We are looking forward to the Official Opening Event in June where we also be marking the 50th Anniversary of Steel & Alloy Processing.”
