Cardinal Group sells Plantation Street industrial scheme, Ashton-under-Lyne, for £1.4m

Cardinal Group, advised by Avison Young, has sold the Plantation Street industrial scheme in Ashton-under-Lyne, to a private client of Roger Hannah and Co for £1.4 million.

Located directly off Whitelands Road, within half a mile of Ashton-under-Lyne town centre, the industrial property comprises two buildings totaling 107,627 sq ft (10,002 sq m) on a 4 acre (1.62 hectare) site. The property was sold with vacant possession to the private buyer for its own occupation.

Simon Hampson, Director of Avison Young, comments: “Demand across the Greater Manchester area remains extremely buoyant from owner occupiers wishing to purchase their own properties for owner occupation in the low interest rate environment. In turn, the supply of freehold buildings continues to diminish.”

Avison Young’s Manchester industrial team has been extremely active in the last quarter, advising on a number of large transactions, both purchasing and selling, on behalf of its clients. Totaling circa 500,000 sq ft (46,450 sq m) of freehold space, the transactions include: 107,000 sq ft (9,940 sq m) in Ashton; 175,000 sq ft (16,257 sq m) in Chadderton; 80,000 sq ft (7,432 sq m) in Leeds, and; 60,000 sq ft (5,574 sq m) in Skelmersdale.
