intu entices two international retailers to the North East

intu has signed up INGLOT Cosmetics and Lovisa for Newcastle’s intu Eldon Square as the growing international brands expand into the north east for the first time.

It will be INGLOT Cosmetics’s first shopping centre outlet outside of London at what is one of the country’s biggest city centre shopping centre destinations. The Polish brand currently operates 720 outlets in 80 countries around the world but has just four stores in the UK.

Lovisa’s 900 sq ft unit at intu Eldon Square will join its 12 other UK stores as the Australian accessories retailer continues a period of rapid expansion. It has recently opened at intu Lakeside and intu Chapefield.

Operating at the heart of Newcastle city centre, intu Eldon Square attracts an annual footfall of 35 million.

Kate Grant, regional managing director at intu, said: “We’re supporting Lovisa and INGLOT’s ambitious UK expansion strategies with prime retail space at one of the country’s biggest and busiest city centre shopping destinations. This will give them the opportunity to attract shoppers from Newcastle and across the north east for the first time.”

INGLOT director Jane Swarbrigg said: “We are delighted to be expanding our UK offering into the north of England and intu Eldon Square’s dynamic city-centre location with sparkling nightlife and thriving student population makes it the perfect way to introduce our brand to the area.”

Peter Barker, Lovisa property director, added: “We can’t wait to introduce shoppers at intu Eldon Square to our array of beautiful necklaces, statement earrings and chic bracelets – Lovisa really is a first stop shop for the fashion forward woman to get her on-trend accessories fix.”
