Guy Brodgen appointed to new role as executive chairman at Barwood Capital

Barwood Capital, the Northampton-based real estate investment and development business, has expanded its board with the appointment of Guy Brogden in the newly created role of executive chairman.

Guy, who was appointed to Barwood Capital’s Board as non-executive director in September 2015, has spent the majority of his career in property development and investment, and until March 2015 was the founder and chief executive of Mayfair Capital.

Guy will focus on the development and implementation of Barwood Capital’s property strategy, with a particular emphasis on driving the investment of the company’s latest regional property fund, which achieved commitments of £42m at the end of May 2017.  This will be invested in assets with the potential for value to be added through planning, development and asset management.

Alan Rudge, who was one of the original founders of the Barwood group of companies in 1996 and became non-executive chairman of Barwood Capital in 2009, will remain on the board as a non-executive director to support the future development of the business and maintain the strong relationships with some of the company’s key investors.

Joanna Greenslade, managing director of Barwood Capital will work closely with Guy to continue to grow the business and remain responsible for overall corporate strategy, fund raising and investor relations.

Joanna Greenslade said: “We warmly welcome Guy into this newly created role. His outstanding knowledge and experience will allow us to continue expanding our business, which in the last eight years, has seen significant growth, having invested in over £175m of property assets and delivered an average project equity IRR of over 30% from completed projects to date. Guy will promote Barwood Capital in the UK’s property investment and development community, and will drive further value through the acquisition and management of new and existing assets. The recent first close of our new 2017 Property Fund exceeded our expectations and supports our reputation as experts in unlocking opportunity in the UK’s regional property market.”

Barwood Capital’s other board members are: Richard Bowen, Andrew Barlow, Edward Henson and Steve Chambers.

Guy Brogden has several other interests including being a trustee of The Ouzel Educational Trust and honorary surveyor to the Farmers Livery Company.
