Energetics gears up for a ‘good year’ with latest contract win

Multi-utilities connections specialist, Energetics, has secured the contract to provide the energy infrastructure to more than 300 new homes on the Goodyear site in the West Midlands.

Bordered by Stafford Road in Wolverhampton, Akron Gate is the result of a joint venture between housebuilder Persimmon and St. Modwen.  The new residential development forms part of a landmark 70-acre mixed-use regeneration project which will create a vibrant new community on the former industrial site.

Energetics’ multi-utility contract includes the design and construction of an electricity substation and a gas governor at Akron Gate.  The company will also connect 286 three and four-bedroom houses, 26 two-bedroom apartments and the street lighting to the electricity network.  Hundreds of new homes will also be connected to the gas, water and telecoms networks, and to two different media organisations for cable television.

The project is being managed by the team based at Energetics’ Midlands office and major depot in Coleshill, North Warwickshire.  Work on site is expected to span the next five years, with the first new homes set to be connected by the autumn.

Bill McSheffery, Major Developments Manager for Energetics, said: “Since our Midlands office and depot was established at the end of last year, we have continued to boost the regional team and to strengthen our links with key commercial and residential developers in and around the region.  As such, we have built up an enviable portfolio of multi-utility projects, installing the energy infrastructure and providing connections to a host of large-scale new homes developments such as Akron Gate.

“Construction of the new homes at Akron Gate is already well underway.  It is exciting to see this area of Wolverhampton being given a new lease of life by St. Modwen and Persimmon and we are delighted to be playing a part in this high profile regeneration project.”

Energetics is an independent company which owns and operates more than 1,000 utility networks across the UK.  Headquartered in Glasgow, the company has offices and major depots in Warrington and Coleshill, North Warwickshire, enabling it to serve and deliver UK wide.
