Oil 4 Wales ends first year on a high

Independent oil distribution company Oil 4 Wales has ended its first year on a high with the signing of two new retail garages.

The Carmarthen-based company, which supplies a range of fuel services to homes, businesses, commercial premises, agricultural and retail customers, has added Central Garage in Blaina and Preseli Service Station in Llandewi Velfrey to its growing chain of petrol stations across south Wales.

This expansion marks the end of a successful first year for Oil 4 Wales, which has witnessed significant growth across all areas of the business leading to an impressive turnover of £40m.

The company, which was founded by entrepreneur Colin Owens, formerly of Owen Fuels, has been well supported by those keen to see the success of a truly Welsh oil brand and now supplies over 11,500 customers in Wales.

Domestic clients include icons such as Max Boyce, Neil Jenkins, Shane Williams and Ken Owens; commercial customers include haulage giants Mansel Davies and Gerry Jones Transport; while from an agricultural perspective Oil 4 Wales has formed a strategic alliance with Clynderwen & Cardiganshire Farmers.

Managing director, Colin Owens said: “When we established Oil 4 Wales last year, we did so with the aim of creating a Welsh oil brand. We are now well on our way to making our vision a reality and are pleased to see that the brand, with its emphasis on giving a good deal to the communities of Wales, is being well received.”

With plans to open more fuel depots throughout the country to service customers and retail garages in mid and north Wales and ambitions of working with the public sector to service local authorities throughout Wales, Oil 4 Wales is targeting £80m turnover in its second year.

Mr Owens continues: “While growth has been significant in the first year, we are not resting on our laurels. We want to expand our range of services beyond just South Wales. We are also fully committed to helping tackle fuel poverty by being flexible with our deliveries and payment terms.  We are working with housing associations such as Cantref to give tenants discounts and are working with syndicates to provide oil for whole villages to ensure that they get a fair price all year round.”

As well as supplying homes, businesses and agricultural premises, Oil 4 Wales services include interest-free budget accounts, planned deliveries, fuel cards and Harlequin oil tanks. The company also has a 24 hour bunker station in Cardiff Docks for long haul drivers needing fuel and assistance.
