Montessori Nursery leases Cambridge city property

Barker Storey Matthews’ Cambridge office has negotiated the letting of a period building on Tenison Road, Cambridge comprising 3,338 sq ft to the Cambridge Montessori Nursery School.

73 & 73a Tenison Road is an attractive detached period property with separate rear coach house and parking. Cambridge Montessori has taken a new 10 year lease on the whole property.

The Directors, Max and Pamela Gordon-Smith currently operate the Smiths Children Montessori Nursery School from St. Luke’s Church on Victoria Road, Cambridge.

Smith’s Children Montessori began from humble beginnings with a small group of children in January 2012. The nursery steadily grew into a thriving nursery community attended by children and families from many cultures and faiths from across the city. The nursery offers authentic Montessori education for children aged 6 months to school age. The Montessori education is delivered by Montessori teachers who have received their training and qualifications from the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI), originally founded by Dr Maria Montessori herself in 1929 to maintain the integrity of her life’s work.

Max Gordon-Smith, director at Smith’s Children Montessori, said “We have a wonderful opportunity here, to bring Montessori education to other parts of the city and most importantly into children’s lives. I very much look forward to engaging with the local community and furthering the role that Montessori education has in Cambridge”.

Ben Green, Director at Barker Storey Matthews commented, “there is a shortage of D1 (education) properties in Cambridge with good demand from a variety of sources including language schools, private schools, further education providers and day nurseries. The subject property is in a desirable location with external space, plus the added benefit of being close to the train station”.
