Work has started on site to revitalise two central Taunton office buildings and create Tangier Central, a new complex of open plan, modern work space aimed at the town’s thriving business community.

Located in Castle Street with views over the River Tone, the neighbouring buildings are undergoing extensive modernisation in a scheme that will release new office space ranging from 2,500 sq ft to 60,000 sq ft onto the market.

Work to upgrade the buildings’ exteriors is now underway to modernise and improve the entrance areas and install contemporary landscaping to the entrance courtyard. Routine repairs and decorations will also be carried out.

These works form the beginning of a first phase of the office refurbishment project and will run alongside improvements to the interiors of the buildings, which are being completely revitalised to offer open plan work space. Phase 1 will be completed by late autumn 2016.

Tangier Central aims to offer all the conveniences of an out-of-town business park in a central location that is just a 15-minute walk from Taunton railway station, and a 10-minute drive from Junction 25 on the M5.

Tangier Central’s benefits include secure car parking for up to 200 vehicles, natural-light filled and open work space, high specification finishes and views across the tree-lined river and surrounding countryside.

Agents on Tangier Central are Hatfield White and Williams Gunter Hardwick.

Nigel Hatfield, Director at Hatfield White, commented: “With the scaffolding now in place at the Tangier Central site, work can begin in earnest to reinvigorate these buildings as contemporary work space that meets the needs of modern employers.

“Tangier Central is the complete package. These offices will offer a high quality and pleasant work environment with ample car parking and great links to local transport infrastructure.

“We are already receiving enquiries for the scheme, and for good reason. Taunton is rapidly establishing itself as a regional business centre. Companies with growth plans or simply in need of better work space are proving keen to explore opportunities at the development. Tangier Central will, in short, provide 60,000 sq ft of much-needed quality offices.”
