GLJ Recycling takes new space following company’s rapid growth

A recycling and demolition company is expanding its business and taking new space at Chapel Farm Industrial Estate, near Cwmcarn in the Ebbw Valley.

GLJ Recycling Limited has signed a lease for 16,500 sq ft (1,532 sq m) of industrial accommodation at Unit D on the estate in a deal brokered by property consultancy JLL.

The privately owned company has been in operation since 2007, and specialises in metal recycling, factory clearance and demolition services. It operates a premises close to Chapel Farm Industrial Estate and this new location will enable the company to expand its services.

The industrial estate is near the village of Cwmcarn, and provides 204,000 sq ft of industrial and office accommodation.

Following the letting of Unit D, just two industrial units are now available within the estate.

Laurie Hanlon, graduate surveyor at property consultancy JLL in Cardiff, who negotiated the lease, said: “There is currently a limited supply of available industrial units within South Wales. Total availability in the region has reduced for the fourth consecutive year since 2012. We have seen strong demand for industrial accommodation in locations such as Cwmcarn, which is ideally situated just 7 miles drive from the M4 motorway.

“We currently have just two industrial units of 5,000 sq ft and 35,000 sq ft available within the estate, and both units have large storage yards.”

John Standerline, estates manager at GM Property Services, which owns Chapel Farm Industrial Estate, said: “GM Property Services are very pleased with JLL’s help in securing this deal. JLL has already identified potential tenants for the two remaining units.”

Unit D, now occupied by GLJ Recycling Limited, consists of approximately 16,500 sq ft of industrial warehouse accommodation and includes a single roller shutter door, yard space to the front elevation, and staff accommodation.

JLL is the sole agent for the industrial estate.
