Aluminium fabricators Dudley’s Aluminium is set to finish work on a local contract supporting the construction of the new ‘STAR’ Hub in Splott.

The STAR Hub – named after local areas Splott, Tremorfa, Adamsdown and Roath – will be built on top of the old Splott swimming pool site, which was closed in 2014 to make way for more modern community facilities.

The new two-storey leisure facility will include a 25 metre swimming pool, gym, café, library and multi-use leisure rooms.

As part of its £153k contract at the site, Dudley’s will produce and install the building’s aluminium façade; featuring custom-made curtain walling and glazing.

Commenting on the project, Dudley’s operations director Bob Rice said: “We are very happy to be working on the STAR Hub project. There are a few of us in the office who fondly remember the old Splott swimming pool and how big an attraction it was for us when we were younger, and we hope the new STAR Hub will deliver the same benefits for today’s local communities.

The STAR Hub is due to be completed next spring and is one of three important projects Dudley’s will complete in Cardiff during 2016. The company is also set to finish a £1.2 contract at Cardiff University’s Brain Research Imaging Centre (CUBRIC), as well as a £1.5 million contract at Central Square in the heart of Cardiff city centre.

Dudley’s reputation for quality has been recognised with several industry-related accreditations. The company is CHAS and Achilles accredited, Constructionline registered, and certified to manufacture “Secured by Design” products.

Established in 1993, Dudley’s Aluminium offers clients full in-house design and production facilities, and has completed many successful and prestigious education, health, commercial, retail and defence sector projects throughout the UK and Channel Islands.
