The first phase of a major mixed use regeneration project to revive an underutilised area in the heart of Redcliffe in central Bristol comes a step closer to realisation as contractors progress with demolition.

Developer Change Real Estate has started work on the 0.8 acre site to prepare for construction of phase one of Redcliff Quarter – a new, bustling urban hub that will celebrate the traditions of this historic area while infusing the neighbourhood with new life and vibrancy.

Planning consent was obtained for phase one of Redcliff Quarter in April this year. A planning application for phase two of the development, comprising 2.5 acres of adjacent land, will be submitted to Bristol City Council in the spring 2016.

Falling within a conservation area, this first phase will include a mix of retail units on Redcliff Street and St Thomas Street, and 128 residential units.

The £180 million, 500,000 sq ft development at Redcliff Quarter is being brought forward as a joint venture between Change Real Estate, Cannon Family Office and ICG Longbow.

Wring Group are carrying out the demolition.

Ron Persaud, Director at Change Real Estate says, “Our vision for Redcliff Quarter is for a vibrant and inspirational development, influenced by the character and heritage of this historic area of Bristol.  This is an area in great need of investment and care, having lain untouched for many years. With that comes huge responsibility and we’re delighted that Bristol City Council gave their unanimous backing to phase 1 when granting planning consent.

“This demolition work is a major step forward realising our vision for Redcliff Quarter.”

Construction is due to commence in Spring 2016 prior to which there will be a period of archaeological excavation. The architects are Lyons Sleeman Hoare.
