East Midlands residential site sold to Persimmon Homes

DTZ, part of UGL Services, has successfully sold 2.79 hectares of land in Kegworth, Leicestershire to leading house builder, Persimmon Homes.

The land was purchased on an unconditional basis with outline planning permission for up to 104 residential units. Persimmon Homes is planning to build 86 units on the site, 30% of which will be affordable homes.

DTZ’s residential team in Birmingham acted on behalf of the landowner, RBS.

The site comprises open grass land interspersed with trees and is in an elevated position with extensive views.

Kegworth is a small village located between Derby, Leicester and Nottingham, a short distance from the M1 motorway. The site is situated to the rear of an RBS Data Centre on the western edge of Kegworth.

Iain McArthur, Associate Director at DTZ in Birmingham, commented: “Although the region’s housing market has been badly affected by the economic downturn, this unconditional sale demonstrates that there is still strong appetite from the house builders to purchase sites on both an unconditional and conditional basis providing the location is right.”
