EJ Hales secure high profile lettings for Brindleyplace

Cardiff-based commercial property consultants EJ Hales has secured two new tenants for Birmingham’s prestigious Brindleyplace development.

The leisure and retail property specialists has let two 4,000 sq ft of leisure units on the ground floor of Three Brindleyplace to Italian chain Zizzi and Argentinian-inspired restaurant CAU, owned by the team behind popular restaurant, Gaucho.

After successfully working for the owners of Brindleyplace to market the Red Dragon Centre and Capitol shopping centre in Cardiff, EJ Hales was appointed agents of the Birmingham mixed use commercial and leisure destination five years ago.

Since being instructed they have secured tenants including Yo! Sushi, GBK, Wagamama, Carluccio’s, Le Monde and Café Nero and will now market a third restaurant unit of circa 5,000 overlooking the canal.

The three restaurants are part of a new programme of works at the mixed use scheme which will see space currently in commercial use redeveloped to enhance the destination’s leisure and retail mix.

Phil Morris, partner in charge of leisure at EJ Hales, said: “The redevelopment plans at Three Brindleyplace represent the last opportunity for operators looking for high quality restaurant space at this prestigious development.

“The fierce level of competition that we saw from interested parties for the first two units is a clear indication of the popularity and desirability of the Brindleyplace estate and the final selection made by the landlords is entirely complementary to the existing high quality mix of leisure occupiers.”

Brindleyplace is just one of several retail schemes in the UK that EJ Hales is marketing, including Leisure West Feltham near Heathrow, Chichester Gate, Skydome Coventry, Great Park Birmingham, Sol Central Northampton and Broomielaw Quay Glasgow.

Phil continued: “Having specialised in retail and leisure property for over 20 years in Wales, our work here has led to several referrals for our services across the bridge. Due to our sector specialism and knowledge of the market, we are getting more and more instructions across the whole of the UK.”

Raj Rajput, Hines, said: “By enhancing the leisure and retail mix, we are cementing the reputation of Brindleyplace as a truly 24-hour destination, with first class commercial accommodation and blue chip occupiers balanced by a range of outstanding bars and restaurants.

“CAU and Zizzi will boost the estate’s existing offering, providing an even greater range of options for estate occupiers and visitors, in a great location that overlooks Central Square on one side and the canal network on the other.”
