The Bristol office of Bruton Knowles has added to its growing team with the appointment of James Vowles as building surveyor.

James joins the fast-expanding office from Somerset County Council where he was involved with the full range of building surveying services including design and specification, contract administration, surveys, planning and building regulation applications.

James also undertook the design (including planning and building regulations), specification and Contract Administration of building projects and also has experience in working with both consultant and contractor frameworks.

He will now apply his extensive experience and knowledge of the sector to broaden further the offer of Bruton Knowles’ Bristol team.

James said: “I’m delighted to join a team that has expert knowledge of the regional market. Bristol and its surrounding area, has some fantastic opportunities for growth and I’m looking forward to the challenges of staying one jump ahead of the fast developing market.”

The improving economic outlook and housing market recovery has triggered a surge in demand for qualified surveyors, according to Bristol head of office, Paul Matthews.

Paul added: “The economic downturn resulted in a chronic shortage of trained building surveyors so we’re delighted to have James on board.

“It will add to the offer here at the Bristol office of Bruton Knowles as we look to expand further the range of services we can offer our clients.

“The recent recovery has therefore meant a definite need for businesses like ours to have in place the right people in order to cope with the increase in demand for surveying work.”
