Latte Life comes to Queen Square as UK’s “Best Coffee Chain” opens its first Bristol city centre outlet

Coffee#1, the SA Brains coffee chain, is to open its first Bristol city centre outlet, complete with outdoor seating, on the edge of the city’s historic Queen’s Square.

The chain opened its first outlet in Wood Street, Cardiff in 2001 and now serves up its own brand of ethical, gourmet coffee in 50 coffee shops around South Wales,  South West and the South Coast. Along the way, they have picked up two Beverage Standards Association awards and have won the title of “Best UK Coffee Chain” for the past five years in a row.

The unit at 51 Welsh Back, adjacent to Queen Square, comprises some 2,130 sq ft (198 sq m) and the agents acting on behalf of the landlords, EPIC UK Ltd, are Williams Gunter Hardwick.

Says their Director Stuart Williams: “The coffee shop take over of so many retail outlets in our cities and towns shows no signs of slowing down, and what Coffee#1’s acquisition demonstrates is the trend for higher quality coffee, more relaxed settings and bigger premises.

“The fact that they plan to have external seating as well is a really welcome addition to the lively mix that has developed in and around Queen Square.”

Coffee#1, represented by Macarthur Wilson, have taken a new 20 year lease at £35,000 pa.
