Expansion leads to relocation for UHM

Acting on behalf of Berkshire Asset Management, Alder King has completed the letting of Unit 6 Blenheim Court at Lustleigh Close on the Marsh Barton Trading Estate in Exeter.

The unit, which comprises 1,537 sq ft (142.74 sq m) of high quality office space over two floors, was let to United Housewares Merchants Ltd (UHM Ltd) and its associated company UHM Woodbury Ltd on a ten year lease at an undisclosed rent.  The company is owned and operated by husband and wife team John and Shirley Richards and employs five staff.

First established in London’s Covent Garden 44 year ago with just one desk, the company moved to Crediton, Devon in 1986 and then came to Exeter in 2006 when John and Shirley Richards took over the business. UHM has since undergone an expansion programme that has led to the relocation.

UHM is the marketing umbrella for a large group of independent wholesalers who carry an extensive product range for the home, garden, DIY and leisure brand leaders.  The range includes UHM’s ‘Own Label’ products branded ‘Woodbury’.  The ‘Woodbury’ brand is exclusive to UHM members and gives independent retailers the ability to offer good quality and value for money. The brand is owned and managed by John and Shirley.

John Richards, managing director commented: “We are very pleased with our new offices and must compliment Lee Southan of Alder King for the professional way he handled the lease with both legal teams to ensure we had a very fast and smooth transaction.”

The letting leaves only Unit 5, a 1,696 sq ft (157.60 sq m) office unit, immediately available at Blenheim Court.
