Export Week: Boost growth with international opportunities

Enscite, the support organisation for companies in the manufacturing supply chain, is to team up with UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) East Midlands and East Midlands Chamber (Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire), to give manufacturers invaluable insight into how they can embrace export opportunities to boost revenue.

On Thursday 21st May 2015 and coinciding with UKTI’s national ‘Export Week’ initiative, the three organisations are hosting a ‘Boosting growth through exports’ free breakfast event at Derby’s Silk Mill.

The event will include presentations from Chamber Chief Executive George Cowcher, Ian Harrison, Regional Director for UKTI East Midlands, and Sid Bains, Head of Innovation & Technology at Enscite. It will be an ideal forum for manufacturers of all sizes to gain an insight into the opportunities and support available to them to develop viable business development into international markets.

Senior executives from manufacturing companies in a range of market sectors will share their own export experiences in a panel discussion chaired by George Cowcher. Panelists so far confirmed are Michael Jones of Trelleborg, Martin Rigley of Lindhurst Engineering, Tim Walker of Seat Design Company, Dr Nik Kotecha of Morningside Pharmaceuticals, and Sylvan Whalley of Preform Technologies.

Commenting on the event, Enscite’s Sid Bains said: “The key to growth for many manufacturers lies in unlocking the potential of international markets. Working alongside UKTI and the Chamber, we are bringing together the organisations with the relevant and proven experience and knowledge of how best to support manufacturers with developing and implementing an export strategy.  The event will provide practical and useful information and signposting on which organisations they can turn to and for which type of assistance, as well as useful insights into the real life export experiences of manufacturing companies.

“Enscite is committed to supporting companies to innovate and develop business opportunities in the region, across the UK and globally,” he adds, “by facilitating access to helpful information and organisations that can add-value to a growth strategy, such as our recent Rail Supply Chain Event, hosted with the Chamber and DDRF.”

George Cowcher added:  “The East Midlands provides the UK with its manufacturing spine. It is home to some of the UK’s most dynamic and innovative manufacturing and engineering firms, with traditional strengths in automotive, rail and aviation and strong reputations being forged in low-carbon, hi-tech manufacturing and the life sciences. Much of the national economic growth secured in the past 18 months was driven by businesses in this region.

“The Chamber is delighted to be working alongside Enscite and UKTI to support these firms, share this success story and encourage even more businesses to broaden their horizons and sell their products and services to the world.”

Ian Harrison said: “This Export Week we are very happy to be working alongside Enscite and the Chamber to support manufacturers in the region. UK products are extremely well received in all four corners of the globe, known for their quality, innovation and excellence. That is why we are urging more companies to take advantage of Brand Britain and look seriously at international markets. Exporting is good for individual businesses and for the regional economy as a whole; at UKTI we are ready to give companies all the help, advice and support they need to take their first steps overseas with confidence. “
