Key appointment to new commercial division

Expanding South Wales law firm Keith Evans & Company has signalled its plan to boost growth further in 2012 with the appointment of Jo Fisher to a new division.

Jo has been recruited by the six office Newport headquartered firm to help drive forward its newly created commercial and corporate division.

The firm, which has its base in the heart of Newport’s Clytha Park Road professional district, also has offices in Abergavenny, Cwmbran, Monmouth, Tredegar and most recently Chepstow.

Jo, aged 32, originally from Cwmbran but now living in New Inn, near Pontypool, has 11 years commercial experience gained in south Wales with Eversheds and previously with RDP.

Jo, appointed as an associate with the firm, said: “This exciting new role will see me taking a key role within the new commercial and corporate side of the Keith Evans & Company business alongside Elliott Evans and Scott Bowen, managing partner and senior litigator respectively.

“It’s a brilliant opportunity to further develop and enhance the well-established Keith Evans brand. It has been a strategic move into the commercial market for the practice after some extensive expansion over the last two years which has seen the practice grow to now have six offices throughout south east Wales. The introduction of a commercial arm to the business was natural progression and a well received expansion for the business.”

Elliott Evans, Managing Partner, welcoming Jo to the practice said: “We’re delighted to have been able to appoint Jo, with her wealth of experience in the commercial sector built up over more than a decade, to the practice.”

Elliott said: “The aim of this expansion is to present new and established businesses with the offering of a straight forward corporate service, that they would normally expect to receive from one of the larger firms, from a local practice on a more approachable basis.

“We aim to offer a more personal service with Jo, with her wealth of south Wales gained experience, as the first point of contact. Businesses are expecting more and more from their lawyers in today’s market and we want to get to know these needs, understand these new requirements and act proactively to fulfil their specific demands.”

Keith Evans and Company, established in 1990 in Newport, now employs some 50 people across its six offices. The practice, awarded the Lexcel Practice Management Standard by The Law Society in 2009, is one of just 35 law firms in Wales to hold the prestigious quality mark.
