NewLaw raises money for Bobath Children’s Therapy Centre Wales

Leading law firm, NewLaw Solicitors, has donated £800 to Bobath Children’s Therapy Centre Wales, a Welsh charity which provides specialist therapy for children in Wales who have cerebral palsy.

It is estimated that 1,800 children in Wales have cerebral palsy and Bobath exists to improve their quality of life by providing physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech and language therapy.

Children with cerebral palsy can find it difficult to walk, talk or take part in everyday activities because of the brain damage that occurred before, during or after they were born. Bobath’s therapists can help with everything from mobility and communication to relieving pain.

Bobath was nominated to benefit from NewLaw’s Charitable Fund by Paul Allen, who is a solicitor and team leader at the firm. Paul is an active fundraiser, having most recently cycled the 100 miles from Cardiff to Tenby for the Carten100.

Helen Molyneux, chief executive of NewLaw, said: “The NewLaw Charitable Fund exists to support causes which are close to our hearts and we’re so pleased to be able to do something for Bobath which is a wonderful organisation providing much needed specialist therapy for local children.

“In our tenth anniversary year we hope to raise money for as many charities as possible and we’re fortunate to have individuals like Paul, who is so enthusiastic and so generous with his time, leading the way.”

Gail Griffiths, Head of Fundraising & Retail for Bobath, said: “The need for our service continues to grow and out of the 500 children on our caseload we currently have 273 children who are either waiting to be referred for a first appointment, or have not been seen for more than a year. We are extremely grateful to NewLaw for their generosity as without such support we could not continue to provide our specialist service.”
