Businesses set to grow – but only with the right people, says Cherry Professional

With the economy picking up and employment falling, Nottingham businesses have said that recruiting the right people is crucial for their ongoing growth.

That was the message from a recent seminar Cherry Professional Limited, the specialist finance and accountancy recruitment business, held in conjunction with Thomas International, entitled ‘Are your people physically present, but psychologically absent’?

Some 95 per cent of the attendees at the seminar believed their business will grow over the next 12 months – symptomatic of the rise in confidence around the economy. However, a massive 90 per cent of the audience said that hiring the right staff was either “important” or “very important” when it came to facilitating this growth.

Danielle Asano, managing director of Cherry Professional Limited, said: “These results are striking. Whilst companies are looking forward to growth, they know they have to act fast to make sure they snap up the best talent out there.

“We have the inside track at Cherry, and we know that, since the turn of the year, the high quality professionals in the region have now regained the confidence to look for new roles. For the last four five years that has been missing – but they realise now that businesses are looking to grow again, and that they can be key to ensuring that expansion happens.

“I’d advise growing businesses to act fast to try and identify the best talent and integrate those people into their companies as soon as possible. If they don’t – their competitors will.”

The seminar, attended by leading HR professionals in the region, heard from Mike Walker of Thomas International on the use of psychometric assessment in business and sport. Mike spoke about how psychometric assessments provide an insight into a company’s workforce, what motivates them and their core strengths and limitations.

Also speaking was Noami Riches, the Team GB Paralympic Gold Medallist who spoke about her incredible journey from Bronze at Beijing in 2008 to Gold at London 2012, and how she learned that her emotional intelligence and behaviour styles gave her the edge.

Danielle added: “These two inspirational speakers put forward the case for both employees and employers to continually monitor the strengths of weaknesses of the workforce to ensure that growth is always on the agenda. Cherry Professional was delighted to be part of the event.”
