Expanding solar PV company employs new staff to meet demand

A solar PV company has appointed two business development managers as it expands across the south.

Renewable Energy Investments (REI), which is based in Ferndown, Dorset, has recruited Zara Thorn and Sean McSorley to meet increasing demand.

The duo will target new business as the company pushes further into the south east and south west and also forges partnerships with more solar PV installers.

Under its Solar Power Purchase Scheme, REI fits cutting-edge solar PV systems for companies free of charge, which means they can preserve their capital for their core business.

REI then supplies clean, green electricity at a heavily discounted rate before handing over ownership of the system entirely in 20 years.

REI commercial director Simon Booth said: “We are at an exciting stage of our development as we continue to expand our business.

“Demand is growing. It was important to find the right people in terms of a cultural fit but also with the necessary experience within the sector and a passion for what we do.

“Sean and Zara are experienced professionals who will allow us to significantly grow the business and get our message out to more clients and partners.”

Sean and Zara’s roles will include developing partnerships with accredited solar PV installers to help them grow their businesses and benefit their customers under REI’s Solar Power Purchase Scheme.

Keen golfer Sean, 37, who lives in Aldershot, joins from solar PV distributor Krannich Solar.

Sean, who will focus on the south east, said: “I am looking forward to being able to help more companies put solar PV on their rooftops, go green and reduce their electricity bills.

There is enough solar energy available to fulfil all the human race’s energy requirements now, and for all practical purposes, forever. REI’s innovative funding solutions will enable us to help all manner of commercial clients harness the sun’s power, now.”

Zara, 38, who lives in Swindon and has a three and a half year old daughter, has a background in sales and business development.

She joins from Zenex Solar in Brighouse, West Yorkshire, but has also worked for DHL and in media sales.

Zara, who will concentrate on the south west, said: “The simplicity of the scheme is a definite advantage and not something I have come across in the industry before.”

The move comes as REI continues its roll out of a large number of systems nationwide under its Solar Power Purchase Scheme – including recent installations at the Hendy motoring group in Chandler’s Ford and the Hampshire Golf Club in Andover.

PV converts sunlight into electric current.

Renewable Energy Investments (REI) was established in 2011. Its key staff include executive director Michael Phillips, commercial director Simon Booth and projects director Toby Smith.
