New lease of life for historic building

One of Southampton’s historic buildings thought to date from circa 1800 and a Grade II listed former Bond Store situated at the Back of the Walls in Southampton has been sold to a local business.

The property was originally constructed as a Bond Store and thought to be linked to Southampton to Salisbury Canal which was due to run from the head of Southampton Water to Salisbury connected via the Andover Canal. Unfortunately the canal was never completed and the Southampton end of the canal was finally covered over in 1851.

This attractive building situated in the heart of the city which has been vacant for a number of years is now to gain a new lease of life thanks to local business Advisalink who intend to utilise the premises for office purposes.

Primmer Olds acted as agents on the sale of the building on behalf of LPA Receivers.

New owner Resh Rhoad was thrilled with the purchase of the building saying “Advisorlink specialise in reviews within the financial services sector. The expansion to the new office will allow us to create 25 new sales positions in the local area. It’s such a lovely building and we aim to keep as many of the original features as we possibly can”.
