Expanding Deep South Media takes on seventh journalist

Expanding communications agency Deep South Media (DSM) has recruited a further journalist.

Former Oxford Mail news/feature writer Debbie Granville has joined the Dorset-based company as an account director.

Her appointment brings the number of professional journalists working in the firm’s PR division to seven.

Debbie has spent the last 19 years in journalism and PR, latterly writing for the Oxford Mail and Times and its associated titles in Wiltshire.

She was highly commended in both the Press Gazette Regional Press Awards and the Newsquest Editorial Awards.

A former press officer for IPC Media and its magazine titles including Woman’s Own and Country Life, Debbie has also promoted England both domestically and internationally as a press officer for the English Tourist Board.
In her new role with DSM, she will be providing press office, communications and PR support for existing clients across the South and the West as well as developing new clients in the leisure and tourism industry.
Debbie said: “I am excited to be joining Deep South Media and its team of former journalists.

“The company is thriving and has a great reputation. I am looking forward to adding to its continuing success.”

Andrew Diprose, Joint Managing Director, said: “Debbie is a great catch for Deep South Media.

“We think she’ll be a hit with both existing and future clients thanks to her blend of writing, people and communication skills.”

DSM was founded in 1998 and its PR arm was launched in 2005. The division now has 37 retained clients including lawyers, accountants, care home providers, civil engineers, water and transport companies, schools and councils.

The company specialises in multi-media content, reputation management, design, stakeholder engagement and press office activities.

Other members of the PR team are joint managing director Ron Wain; senior account director Scott Sinclair and account directors Ed Baker, Rachel Read and James Tourgout.
