New budget hotel for Loughborough

Work is nearing Completion at the proposed Premier Inn Hotel, which has been built at a site on Southfields in Loughborough, adjacent to the Charnwood Borough Council offices.
The Hotel is being constructed on land which previously accommodated temporary buildings used by the Council for offices, although these had remained unused for many years prior to their demolition.
The 112 bedroom hotel, to be occupied by the Whitbread Plc subsidiary has been constructed by Multibuild in a 42 week programme on behalf of Developers Saxondale Properties of Nottingham, who have been working on the project since mid 2007.
The developer will shortly hand over the hotel to Premier Inn, who are proposing to open to the public prior to Christmas with the final fit out works currently being undertaken in readiness for the opening.
This is the first Budget hotel and indeed the first new hotel which has been built in the Centre of Loughborough for many years.
It is expected that the hotel will house personnel associated with athletes from the Chinese and British Athletic teams who will be using Loughborough University as a training base in preparation for competing in the 2012 Olympics.  Andrew Butcher and Steve Cuthbert, Directors of Saxondale Properties who have worked on the project from its inception are ‘delighted to have been able to provide this facility for Loughborough, which comes at an important time for the Town with the need for modern Hotel accommodation being available in addition to the existing accommodation at the University’.
The Hotel operators are committing to the venture for 25 years and the central location of the building within the Town will encourage people to stay in Loughborough for Business and Leisure purposes as opposed to staying in Nottingham, Derby or Leicester, which has often been the case in the past. The development is a large inward investment showing confidence in the Town and one which will provide around 100 full and part-time jobs for local people.
