World-renowned figure to address business owners at charity event

A world-renowned figure will be giving a motivational speech to South West business leaders at the end of April.

Mark Ormrod – who is a motivational speaker, author of Man Down, former Royal Marine Commando and triple amputee will visit Pure Comms, who are based just outside Bristol, to give an exclusive talk to business owners on Thursday April 24.

Alongside the speech there will also be an auction and book signing – with all money raised being donated to the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund (RMCTF).

Mark was in the West Country recently to meet with the Pure Comms senior management team and discuss the company’s plans to support RMCTF.

Mark is an ambassador to the charity and regularly raises money for its cause.

Now an internationally renowned speaker, on Christmas Eve 2007 whilst out on foot patrol serving in Afghanistan for the Royal Marines, Mark stepped on a buried landmine.

The injuries he sustained resulted in a double amputation of his legs and the amputation of his right arm.

Whilst going through rehabilitation Mark authored a book called ‘Man Down’ and has also completed a number of major challenges.

He has run across America from New York to Los Angeles and was part of a team of both British and American Military men who embarked on a journey of over 3500 miles to raise awareness and money for injured troops.

Mark was also selected to be one of the torch bearers for the Olympic Games.

At the recent meeting at Pure Comms offices, Mark and the company’s Managing Director Rob Vivian agreed to host a series of events throughout the year that will raise money for RMCTF.

Rob Vivian comments: “We are proud to have chosen RMTCF as the charity we will be supporting for the years ahead. We will be hosting a series of major fund raising events in the coming months that will kick off with Mark’s talk in April.

“He is a truly inspirational figure and I look forward to welcoming him back, along with guests, for the talk and auction.”

Mark Ormrod comments: “Delighted to be working with a fast-growing and dynamic company like Pure Comms. I am looking forward to the event and raising money for this worthy charity.”
