NewLaw announces Child Brain Injury Trust as its charity of the year

NewLaw Solicitors, one of the leading legal practices in the UK, has chosen the Child Brain Injury Trust as its charity of the year for 2014, the business’s 10th anniversary year.

The money raised will be used to help children, young people and families across the country whose lives have been affected by acquired brain injury.

The Child Brain Injury Trust is one of the leading brain injury charities and specialises in providing vital services to families through emotional and practical support, a national helpline, information, training and education for parents, carers and teachers.

The charity works with a wide range of professionals to provide support during each stage of development, helping to ensure appropriate support strategies are implemented.

Helen Molyneux, Chief Executive of NewLaw said: “Through the work we do with brain injured children and young people, we understand all too well the distress that both the child and the family experience. We see at first hand the difference that the Child Brain Injury Trust makes to our clients and other brain injured children and know that its work is invaluable.

“In the last three years NewLaw has raised over £80,000 for various charities, and we’re very pleased to be supporting such a worthy cause in this, our tenth anniversary year.”

Lisa Turan, Chief Executive of the Child Brain Injury Trust, said: “Every 30 minutes, a child or young person will acquire a brain injury. This could be the result of an accident, an illness such as meningitis or encephalitis, a poisoning, a stroke or a brain tumour. We know that life with an acquired brain injury for a child and family is often a long journey and we will be there to offer support all the way through that journey.

“We are extremely thankful to NewLaw and look forward to working with its dedicated staff on some great fundraising initiatives that will fund our life-changing work. Without the support of organisations like NewLaw we would not be able to help the thousands of families that we do each year.”

All monies raised this year will once again be split between the charity of the year and the NewLaw Charitable Fund, which was set up in 2013 to give NewLaw employees the opportunity to apply for funding for a cause close to their hearts.

NewLaw Solicitors is one of the leading legal practices in the country and has one of the largest, most experienced catastrophic injury teams in the UK. Every year it helps thousands of injured people recover the compensation they deserve following life changing accidents and raises thousands of pounds for the charities that work with its clients.
