Surveyors going underground for networking event with a difference

Agents at Colliers International in Bristol have come up with a radical new slant on the traditional business networking event.

The Broad Quay-based commercial property specialists invited a party of sector professionals, architects and developers on a trip with a difference – just across the river to Redcliffe Caves.

Organised by Chris Dawson from Colliers International’s Development Consultancy team, the visit proved popular with the city’s business community.

He said: “We were looking to celebrate Bristol’s history that is not only near our office in Broad Quay but literally under our feet.

“It’s great to look at something a bit different and the opportunity to take a tour of Redcliffe Caves seemed too good to miss. It’s amazing to think such a significant location in the city’s development is still there – and yet is virtually unknown to the thousands of people who pass by every day.”

The caves were left over from mining operations dating back to the 15th century. The main product was fine sand for Bristol’s famous glass making industry as well as being used for ship’s ballast.
